Growing In Unity Day Five

Hello Crafty Friends and Welcome to my final Growing In  Unity Stamp Co. week. It has truly been an honor to share my creations with you. I hope you all have learned something new along the way and would visit me often to learn more tips and tricks. Be sure to come back on Saturday to see if your a luck winner.

For today I wanted to do a layout. I've been taking this mixed media class with Studio Calico and they have so many amazing and creative mixed media artists and they have shared so much. So I thought that Unity Stamp Co. Layers of Life Kit {spring inspired march 2014} would be perfect for the look I wanted. I started out by using clear gesso. I spread gesso all over my page. Next I begin by wetting the stamp with a paint brush and water and using my Neocolor II crayons in Yellow and  Olive I traced the outline of the sunflower stamp. Wetting the stamp first gives me a wet pallet. What I love about the NeocolorII is that they work great wet or dry. I wanted them to go on like a wet paint  this is the reason for wetting the stamp first. I really love how the sunflowers have that water color look. For the center of each flower I went in with my Mr. Huey's water paint. I could find the color I wanted in the Neocolor II so I mixed some dusty red and  light bright together to give me the center of my flowers.  After creating my flowers I used some modeling paste to create my title "SUN FLOWER" and the chevrons on the side of my page. I went over my title with same Neocolor II in Olive. Once everything dried I went to embellish around my photo using stickers and flair buttons from Studio Calico: Hello Forever and Badges. The arrow is a chip board element from Close To My Heart. I inked this arrow with  Mister Huey's Desert Mists. The string is a piece of string that I found hinging from one of my kids shirt. I changed the color by using Tim Holtz Distress Pain: Salty ocean. I thought it would be perfect to bring out my background sky I created using my Neocolor II  Light Blue and a border using Neocolor II Brown. I later went back and add splatters of Mister Huey's Desert Mist.

Wow I've never talked this much about one layout. lol
Here's my mixed mead layout:
